Mahalo!

I worked a full work week last week and it was wonderful.   I never thought I would be so excited to work on my birthday before.  Thank you to everyone for the sweet birthday messages and cards, I really had a great 26th birthday.  26...I feel like I should still be 22.  That would be nice!

Kyle was very thoughtful and sent me tulips to work.  Then after work we went and ate at Roy's. We had hands down the best service we have ever had before.  The food was pretty incredible as well.  They were so kind and brought me this yummy molten volcano chocolate thing and it was divine!    The plate says Happy Birthday in hawaiian.  Unfortunately we were so full from dinner that we didn't get to eat any of the cake that Kyle had gotten for me.  But don't worry I've had a piece every night since then.

Notice I didn't take any pictures of me and Kyle at my birthday dinner, only the desserts!

My flowers cards from all of you!

Friday night we went to the Magic game and got to watch Brooke perform!  She is the blond in the center!  The game was pretty close until the end, I can't wait for play offs to get here!
Me and Kyle at the game!

Dubbers birthday was on the 25th and seeing as his is spoiled every day of his life, we didn't really have a celebration for him, but he did get a bone that day.  This is what AW is doing right now.

I am done with  my "temp" receptionist job, a girl needs a break after working for 2 weeks okay!?  But I do have a few prospects in the mix after working there, so hopefully one of them works out.  The people I was working with are wonderful and have really been helpful in finding me something.  This really was a dream come true!  I should know something in the next couple of weeks, but don't worry you all will know when I am employed again!

We are getting ready to watch OU play North Carolina to go to the Final Four so I've got to go get my OU gear on and put AW's bandana on!  Kyle won a trip to the Final Four this year so he would really like to get to see OU play!  He'll be gone next weekend and I am going to go home on Friday for my sister's baby shower!    I am looking forward to spending time with her and my family!

This is how we spent our Saturday night and Sunday morning...

Yes we built it!  It took about 6 hours total to build the whole thing but it was worth it!  I finally have a kitchen table again!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Miss Love!

This past weekend we had our first house guests!  Chris and I have known each other since elementary school at St. Mark's and rekindled our friendship in 9th grade at Vines.  We were both in freshman spanish class with Ms. Mejia!

Chris and I have been through a lot of highs and lows in life in our many years of friendship and even though we haven't lived in same state for 8 years we've always remained great friends!  I even spent two spring breaks at Duke with her to celebrate our birthdays!  For some reason coming to Norman for Spring Break wasn't nearly as exciting!

Most importantly she has always been a wonderful friend to me!  We've never argued about anything and usually have the most fun just hanging out and doing nothing.  I will spare you all really funny inside jokes and stories, but one of my favorites is our "100 things to do before college list"!!

SO getting back to the point of the blog.  She and her friend from college, PJ, came to Orlando for a little sunny getaway!  They both live and work in the heart of NYC and work way too hard at "a big bank" and a commercial real estate company that happens to own buildings like 30 Rock and the Chrysler Building.  (and I am so proud of them!!)  Needless to say they work really long hours, days, and weeks and needed a break!  We went to dinner Thursday night to celebrate Chris's Birthday!  Then we all came back to our place for some homemade birthday cake!  On Friday, they spent the day with friends at the Disney Parks!  Saturday we were really touristy and went to not one, but both of the outlet malls!  ;-) Then found a Buffalo Wild Wings so we could watch all the basketball games!  That's where we spent our Saturday night!!  And it was great!  Luckily both of our teams won and we were all in a great mood!  Now I'm hoping OU plays Duke in the tournament!  (even though I have Duke winning it all).  Entering into my first bracket challenge this year is another post all together!  But has definitely made me very interested in all the games.  (I think that was Kyle's secret plan all along!)

We LOVED having friends come stay with us and can not wait for our next guests, the Hustons, who are coming on April 29th!!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here's some of the things we've done since our last post:
  • we got to watch the OU basketball game (even though we lost to OSU, at least we got the game)
  • Angela went to "work" for 2 days!
  • laid out by the pool!!
  • joined the OU alumni group in Orlando
  • Went to Universal City walk for dinner and a movie and TCBY!!
  • had dinner with Justine, Leah's sister that was in town visiting friends
  • watched the shuttle lunch from our front porch
  • Angela went to the Tampa Zoo
I know you are all shocked, Angela went to work, well here's the deal.  This nanny agency called me and apparently thought I would make a great nanny.  I'm pretty desperate so I figured I'd give it a try.  I went in and interviewed and the next day I went back to turn in my fingerprints that I had done, and 20 minutes later the receptionist called me.  She asked me if I would be interested in covering for her for a few days because she is getting married and going on her honeymoon, I said of course!  She also told me that she graduated from Plano East in 2005 and her fiance graduated from OSU.  Small world!  So I went in on Thursday to train and I worked on Friday for her because she had to go out of town for the day.  Then I go back tomorrow and work through next Friday!  I am really excited about the opportunity and hoping something comes from it.  It is in an office building downtown and there are many different offices on that floor that I'm the receptionist for.  Everyone there is really nice and I am looking forward to going to work, even if it's just temporary!

We did our first "touristy" thing on Friday night and went to the Citywalk.  It's not far from our house and we wanted to see a movie.  It was fun to go and walk around and we can't wait to go back and go to Islands of Adventure!

Have any of you ever seen a shuttle launch in person?  I must admit it was pretty cool.  You could see the shuttle plain as day just going up into the sky.  Then you could see the tanks fall off and continue to fall into the ocean. Then, apparently, when the shuttle reaches orbit it looks like it is coming back down, but it's not.  And we were told that when it comes back, it breaks the sound barrier and you can hear it!  But we'll see...and I'll let you know!

Lastly, yesterday I met Jennifer, Matt, Andrew, and Sarah French at the Tampa Zoo for a fun day!  We spent most of the afternoon there and saw some pretty neat animals!  I took a couple pictures of the animals we saw!  Jennifer and Andrew fed Boris, the giraffe, some cookies and then we got to pet sting-rays!  It was such a fun day and I really enjoyed it!  The Tampa Zoo is voted the #1 Family Friendly Zoo!  We saw chimps, orangoutangs, panthers, penguins, a wolf, skunks, monkeys, snakes, bears, manatees, white tigers, eagles, flamingos, otters, turtles, zebras, elephants, and of course a swamp full of gators (but those are everywhere here not just in the zoo ;-) and a BUNCH of animals I can't remember or have ever heard of!  But it was so good to see them!  Andrew and Sarah are growing up so fast and as soon I get the pictures from them that we took of us together, I'll post those too!

Hope everyone is having a fun and safe St. Patty's Day!  We're about to head out and get some green beer!

Love,
Us

p.s. My friend Chris Wang and her friend PJ are coming in on Thursday from NYC and spending the weekend with us for her birthday!  I can not wait to have our first house guests!!!

A visitor from Oklahoma!

My wonderful friend and roomie from the Chi O days came and visited Orlando this weekend!  Her sister Brooke lives here and we got to hang out with them this weekend!  I met them for lunch at a Mexican place called Agave Azul, which was really good mexican food!  We had a nice patio lunch in the beautiful weather then hit up the Millennia Mall for a couple of hours.  This mall is ridiculous!  just look at the stores that are in this mall!
http://www.mallatmillenia.com/luxurious/luxurious.htm

Brooke was so kind to give us 2 tickets to the Orlando Magic game on Friday night (thank you again Brooke) and we had a blast!  I have always liked the Magic and although I will always be a MFFL, I can be a Magic fan too!  They played the New Jersey Nets and they won!  It was a great game and fun to get out and watch some basketball!  Lacey and I even got a pic with the mascot "Stuff" and I signed his cast because Stuff currently has a broken leg...like in real life...so they wrap his costume too!  Afterwards we went out with Lacey and Brooke and some (or 10) of her friends in downtown Orlando!  Downtown was a lot of fun and there are quite a few bars down there that I am sure we will have to go back and check out!

On Saturday Kyle and I went to the mall to look around!  We picked up our tickets to the Kings of Leon concert that is in Orlando on May 5th and then bought 2 more tickets to see Third Eye Blind (kyle's all time fav band).  So that will be fun and something to look forward to.  That night we met the Rayburn sisters for dinner at a great place called Season's 52.  Basically, they change out their menu according to the seasons and what is fresh and in season.  The waiter told us that when we come back in 2 weeks the menu will be totally different and focus on spring seasonal items!  And everything is really good for you too!  Lacey and Brooke came back to our place for a bit and Brooke played ball with AW for like an hour and wore him out!

It was a great 1st real weekend in Orlando!  Thank you again to Brooke and Lacey for hanging out with us and inviting us to tag along with yall!  It was nice to see a familiar face and definitely helped make Orlando feel like home!

Here was the view from our seats!  BTW, they play in Amway Arena, but they are building a new arena that is going to be so cool and it opens 10/10/10!

Even warming up Dwight Howard's dunks are amazing!

welcome home!

During my intense job hunt I decided to take a break to take some pictures of the place.  Now, we don't plan on being here too long so don't judge my decor okay!?

My friend Lacey is coming today to visit her sister Brooke, who lives here, so I am SO excited to see her and hang out with her while she is here!  I am sure I will have some fun things to post after this weekend!

Hope everyone is doing great!  Kyle is loving his new job!  His area is alot more spread out so he's driving around most of the day, but he likes everyone he has met so far, and still has some more to meet.  He has been with the guy who's spot he is taking this week and next week he is on his own!

Enjoy the pics!

20 hours and 1200 miles

Hello from Orlando!

Well we made it!  I figured this would be an easy way for everyone (who actually wants to) to know what we are up to here in Florida!  I am new to this whole "blogging" thing so bare with me.  I am not a creative writer so this is simply going to be a place for us to post what's going on with us and to help us keep in touch with all of you!

Our drive to Orlando wasn't too bad!  We stopped halfway in Birmingham, AL where a lot of my family lives.  We stayed with my Aunt Myra and Uncle Larry at their beautiful new house!  And we also got to see my Aunt Linda, Uncle David, cousins Billy, Lisa, Cory, Courtney, and Kim!  It was so great to get to see them!  Kyle quickly became a fan of Milo's sweet tea and we stopped to get 3 gallons of it because he is now afraid he can't get it in FL.  The second leg of our journey Kyle drove the entire way and I did not mind at all!  We got to Orlando around 7 PM and were able to sleep in our place that night!  We made a pallet on the floor and called it a night!  The movers were here at 8 AM on thursday and took about 6 hours moving all our stuff into our place.  We have been unpacking boxes ever since.  It is starting to look like a home and until it looks decent enough to post pictures I will!

We went on Friday to get our FL drivers licenses...and they kept our OK ones.  It was a little emotional but at least we are legal residences now!  And I learned that my birth certificate no longer proves who I am, apparently I have to also have my marriage license to prove "lineage."  So after waiting 2 1/2 hours I had to run back home to get our marriage license and bring it back by 4 or else I would have to go back and do it all over again.  But we have our FL licenses so at least when we get carded they won't assume we are just tourists!

Kyle starts his first day of work on Monday and he is very excited!  He has to drive to Tampa to meet with his boss and do some paperwork.

Thank you to everyone for being so supportive and encouraging as we embark on this journey!  We are really excited to see what God has in store in the next couple of years!  We appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts sent our way.  We definitely need them!  Hope everyone has a great week!

Love,
Angela, Kyle, and AW

Dubbers did not like riding in the back with all our stuff!
